What is Tri-Set Training?
on 21. Jul 2009 in technique, Super Sets, tri sets, Training, routine, Training Styles, fitness, workouts, Exercise.

| Tri-sets are one of those training techniques that have been designed around an existing training style and then someone had the ingenious idea of adding more. Please note my sarcasm as really it doesn't take a lot of effort to take an idea and add more to make it seem better.

| Calories are contained in most of the foods we eat and it is something that many diets and 'lose weight fast plans' have focused on. It has only been in recent times that food producers have had to be more honest about the amount of calories in their foods. We are obsessed with calories and they are the one aspect of food that we count. We count how many we consume and less frequently we count how many we use. We talk quite confidently about calories but do we really know what they are all about?

| There is nothing worse than having a bad game of tennis, or is there? How about an injury that if left untreated can not only leave you in a lot of pain but can keep you away from the court entirely for a much as a couple of years? I know that I would gladly stick with my usual bad game than suffer any injury that leaves me with no choice about playing or not. If you don't believe me then just watch a tennis match and see if you can spot the injured player in the crowd who wants to be out there. With a face like a child's who has just opened the unwanted Christmas present slouched in their chair as though the life has literally been sucked out of them; they shouldn't be hard to spot.

How Many Sets for an Exercise?
on 10. Jun 2009 in results, development, sets, strength, repetitions, Goal, Top Tips, Training Styles, workout, muscle, Exercise.
|
| What are sets?
Sets are simply repetitions of repetitions. For example if you perform 12 reps of an exercise that is one set. If you then do 12 more reps that will be your second set. Not too complicated really (Could you repeat that? - Beeble).
How many sets should you perform per exercise?
This is where it can get confusing, the most popular answer to this question is usually three sets per exercise. Why? I have no idea, but like many exercise concepts in the past they stick until someone comes along with a group of scientists and proves it to be incorrect. Some people will train at five sets and others will just do the one but carry out many different exercises.img src="http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/Beebleblog/~4/jWHuR2MD0Wg" height="1" width="1"/ |

| We have been very busy this year creating our fitness tools for you to use. Our heads have been well and truly buried over the last 5 months creating a one stop shop for you to check and monitor your health and fitness.
Why use our fitness tools
For people who have signed up for our Beeble's Fitness for Life you will already know that we provide you with a monthly exercise program for free. However if you have just been using your scales to judge the change in your body then you just might be missing out on some more accurate ways of measuring your progress. Every month when you receive your new exercise program go through our calculators one by one and note down all your results. This way month by month your training will progress as will your knowledge of your achievements.img src="http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/Beebleblog/~4/n_EdGwrAO0U" height="1" width="1"/ |

| When designing any program it is important to decide how many repetitions are needed for each exercise. To get this number you first need to understand what your goals are. When you know what you want to achieve then you can start designing a bespoke program that will really help you reach those goals.img src="http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/Beebleblog/~4/A5xRa5SlJzM" height="1" width="1"/ |
The Best Ab Exercises

| All ab exercises should be functional and should definitely not need a piece of equipment to train them, especially not the ab cradle which in my opinion is about as much use as ballet shoes are to an elephant. All ab exercises should use all your abdominals in an array of movements that mimic their actual use. They are our key core muscles and they must be treated as such. Therefore crunches alone will not suffice, you need to add many more variations to your stomach routine.img src="http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/Beebleblog/~4/4pkKJFfuuGk" height="1" width="1"/ |
Don’t Arch Your Back During Exercise
on 09. Apr 2009 in exercise technique, exercise library, core muscles, transverse abdominals, injury, technique, Injuries, lower back, Core, Top Tips, Back, workout, Bad Backs, Exercise.
|
| If you are a regular user of our Exercise Library then you may have noticed a training point which appears regularly in the “don't” section. It applies to many exercises and clearly states “don't arch your back”. Arching the lower back during exercise is one of the most common mistakes people make in the gym during their exercise session and it can have a detrimental effect on your progress.
Two different arches
There are not many exercise that manage to stay true to perfect technique and escape from the dreaded back arch. It can materialise in two ways: the first being the long hold where the back arches during the contraction in a slow, almost controlled manner and then relaxes again as the movement returns to the starting position. The second is the instigator of the exerciser's worst enemy: the body swing. This is where the unsuspecting gym-goer arches their lower back to create momentum to aid the movement, which again is bad technique.img src="http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/Beebleblog/~4/cFL5P2COsq0" height="1" width="1"/ |
Super Sets - The Exercise Technique Explained
on 02. Apr 2009 in technique, Super Sets, vascular shunt, exercise technique, supporting muscles, Training Styles, routine, Training, Exercise.

Super Setting has been around for a while and one of its benefits is that it enables you to fit more exercise into your allotted gym time. It also helps you to push the body a bit further than would be possible when just using your normal sets workout and (dare I say it) it makes your exercise routine that more interesting (he said it: exercise and interesting in the same sentence – Beeble).

Your Very Own Home Gym - for less than £55/$75

It is a common misconception that the more you spend on gym membership the better results you will get. Gym membership can be very expensive and still come with no guarantees. There is no doubt that what the gym can offer as far as equipment goes is usually far better than any home gym you could hope to create. However I have helped to design and set up many a private gym and in all honesty you can build a very good one that can cover all muscle groups with only two purchases. Not only are these two pieces able to train every single muscle in your body but they are not expensive either. In fact you could pick them up for less than £55 brand new. |
