There are over one billion people overweight people worldwide and one out of three children in America are overweight. Noted as an epidemic, increase in weight size is quickly becoming an issue of focus. Weight loss can be a hard thing to overcome, but many have found the motivation to do so and have limited their health risks due to being overweight or obese. Shedding excess weight will allow one to have many benefits in life that include virtually eliminating disastrous medical conditions.

Some of these health concerns are diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancers, sleep apnea and arthritis. These medical conditions cause great harm to the body and many are life-long effects or even killers.

Type 2 diabetes may develop from being overweight. The body after time can no longer control the blood sugar that is normal regulated. If untreated, diabetes can cause other serious conditions such as heart attacks, poor circulation or even death.

High blood pressure is more likely to be at an elevated level if a person is overweight. High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks or strokes, the leading cause for death in men and women in America. Sudden death is often possible without advance warnings.

Being overweight has shown to actually cause some cancers. Cancers caused by being obese are colon, ovary, gallbladder, rectal, prostate or breast cancers. The more excess body weight a person contains, the greater the increased risk for developing these cancers regardless of cancer in one’s family history.

Sleep Apnea is a condition in which a person stops breathing during sleep and rest. Heavy snoring can be a signal pointing towards a sleep apnea condition. Those who have excessive fat stores around the chin and neck areas due to being overweight, can actually have this fat interfere with proper breathing or even halt the breathing process. Losing weight is proven to resolve this condition in the majority of patients, but if allowed to continue, it can cause heart attacks, heart failure and sudden death from lack of air to the body.

Being overweight places more tension on fragile joints leading to pain and disability. Painful lower back pain or aching joints are often a sign of arthritis. Osteoarthritis is especially apparent in the obese. To reduce strain and stress on the joints, weight loss is a must in order to allow the joints to work and feel at ease.

The conditions abound for those that are overweight. Other conditions caused or has a much higher rate of occurring in overweight people include: an enlarged heart, pulmonary embolism, cysts developing in the ovaries, gastro esophageal reflux, fatty liver disease, hernias, depression, cellulitus, erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, chronic renal failure, gout and disease of the gallbladder. There are many more factors affected by being excessively heavy that involve weight loss to overcome or avoid. Losing weight definitely shows time shared with loved ones is limited when a person is overweight or obese and that should be the best reason for losing weight.
